What should I wear today? Should I get the chicken salad today or a cheeseburger? Should I go swimming or lay in bed and watch Game of Thrones? Every day, we are faced with making decisions. Some more trivial than others, but still decisions are decisions.
I often cannot make up my mind. Sometimes it takes me an hour to figure out what restaurant I want to eat, because I always want to make the “best” choice. I’ll get on Yelp and swipe down to see all the options. Next thing I know, I took too long to decide and now the restaurant is closed.
Today’s blog is about how you can become more decisive. It’s an important skill to develop if you want to keep up in this face paced world we live in.
Abandon the idea of being “perfect”
There is no perfect or right decision. There are thousands of choices, and we must take the facts we have at hand and decide. Trying to make the “perfect” decision may deter us from making any decision at all.
Value your time
Your time is precious. I admit, taking an hour to decide what I should eat, is probably not the best use of my time. When you find yourself pondering over a decision that will not affect your life in a day or two, remind yourself to think about the value of time. This will help you make a quicker decision and keep going on with life.
Evaluate the situation
Sometimes it is hard to decide if we are unclear of the goals we are trying to achieve. Break down the situation by asking yourself, why, how and what is the purpose of your decision. When you are clear of the intention, it is easier to make a solid decision.
Don’t look back
Once a decision has been made, don’t be wishy washy. You know you made the best decision with the information you had at hand, so stick with it. Be proud of the decision you made and move on!
Love,
Karen
