Happy Needle Monday. This is my first Tapestry. The first time I saw a Tapestry crochet I was amazed and very intrigued to know what the technique used was. Unfortunately, at the time I only had one image and no mention of anything else. At that time I was busy with other things and although it had awakened great interest in me, I did not investigate further. But....A few days ago I came across a crocheted rug again and by delving a little deeper I was able to learn the name of the technique.	Feliz lunes de agujas. Este es mi primer Tapestry. La primera vez que ví un tejido con la técnica Tapestry quedé admirada y muy intrigada por saber cuál era la técnica utilizada. Penosamente, en ese momento solo tenía una imagen y no mencionaba nada nada más. En ese momento me ocupé en otras cosas y aunque había despertado gran interés en mí, no seguí investigando. Pero....En días pasados me topé nuevamente con un tapete hecho a crochet y ahondando un poquito pude conocer el nombre de la técnica.

Feliz lunes de agujas. Este es mi primer Tapestry. La primera vez que ví un tejido con la técnica Tapestry quedé admirada y muy intrigada por saber cuál era la técnica utilizada. Penosamente, en ese momento solo tenía una imagen y no mencionaba nada nada más. En ese momento me ocupé en otras cosas y aunque había despertado gran interés en mí, no seguí investigando. Pero....En días pasados me topé nuevamente con un tapete hecho a crochet y ahondando un poquito pude conocer el nombre de la técnica.


Maybe for many this is old news, but for me it has been quite a discovery. I was also researching on how to make the patterns and you have to work a little with paint. Since I wanted to knit, I quickly located a simple pattern on the internet and got to work.	Quizás para muchos esto es una noticia vieja, pero para mí ha sido todo un descubrimiento. También estuve investigando sobre cómo hacer los patrones y hay que trabajar un poco con paint. Cómo lo que yo quería era tejer, rápidamente ubiqué un sencillo patrón en internet y me puse manos a la obra.

Maybe for many this is old news, but for me it has been quite a discovery. I was also researching on how to make the patterns and you have to work a little with paint. Since I wanted to knit, I quickly located a simple pattern on the internet and got to work.

Quizás para muchos esto es una noticia vieja, pero para mí ha sido todo un descubrimiento. También estuve investigando sobre cómo hacer los patrones y hay que trabajar un poco con paint. Cómo lo que yo quería era tejer, rápidamente ubiqué un sencillo patrón en internet y me puse manos a la obra.


The pattern is apparently simple because it doesn't have too many color changes. At least that's what I thought, but when I started knitting, I didn't know how to change the yarns without getting tangled between the balls of yarn. I made three attempts, and in the fourth one I put forward, because I saw them on Youtube, there are people who are hiding the thread between the fabric, but it only works when there are two colors, otherwise the fabric thickens and each nothing aesthetic.	El patrón, aparentemente es sencillo porque no tienen demasiado cambios de color. Al menos eso pensaba yo, pero cuando empecé el tejido, no sabía cómo ir cambiando los hilos sin que se formará un enredo entre los ovillos de hilo. Realicé tres intentos, y en el cuarto puse avanzar, pues los vi en Youtube, hay personas que van ocultando el hilo entre el tejido, pero solo funciona cuando hay dos colores, de lo contrario el tejido se engrosa y no cada nada estético.

El patrón, aparentemente es sencillo porque no tienen demasiado cambios de color. Al menos eso pensaba yo, pero cuando empecé el tejido, no sabía cómo ir cambiando los hilos sin que se formará un enredo entre los ovillos de hilo. Realicé tres intentos, y en el cuarto puse avanzar, pues los vi en Youtube, hay personas que van ocultando el hilo entre el tejido, pero solo funciona cuando hay dos colores, de lo contrario el tejido se engrosa y no cada nada estético.


The best way is to cut the threads as you make the changes and in the case of the background color, leave a long thread because we are going to use it in each turn. I also tried to leave the thread uncut, but it has to be tightened a little in each change and it gives a bulky shape to the figure that is being formed. This could be solved by cutting the yarns at the end, but you run the risk of cutting close to the stitch and it will fall apart. It worked for me and I applied it almost halfway through the mat, cutting and changing the yarns.	La mejor forma es ir cortando los hilos en la medida que se realizan los cambios y en el caso del color de fondo, dejar un hilo largo pues lo vamos a utilizar en cada vuelta. También intenté dejar el hilo sin cortar, pero se tiene que tensar un poco en cada cambio y le da una forma abultada a la figura que se va formando. Esto se podría resolver cortando los hilos al final, pero correremos el riesgo de cortar cerca del punto y éste se desarme. A mí me funcionó y lo apliqué casi a la mitad del tapete, cortando y cambiando los hilos.

La mejor forma es ir cortando los hilos en la medida que se realizan los cambios y en el caso del color de fondo, dejar un hilo largo pues lo vamos a utilizar en cada vuelta. También intenté dejar el hilo sin cortar, pero se tiene que tensar un poco en cada cambio y le da una forma abultada a la figura que se va formando. Esto se podría resolver cortando los hilos al final, pero correremos el riesgo de cortar cerca del punto y éste se desarme. A mí me funcionó y lo apliqué casi a la mitad del tapete, cortando y cambiando los hilos.


I made a replica of the pattern on graph paper for convenience and it helped me get familiar with the pattern and the number of stitches. The original pattern has 30 stitches at the base for 45 rounds, but I added two extra stitches on each side so that the design would not be on the edge and I also added six rounds at the base and two at the end.	Hice una réplica del patrón en un papel cuadriculado para poder tener más comodidad y eso me ayudó a familiarizarme con la figura y la cantidad de puntos. El patrón original tiene 30 puntos en la base por 45 vueltas, pero añadí dos puntos adicionales de cada lado para que el diseño no quedara en el borde y además añadí seis vueltas en la base y dos al final.

El patrón original tiene 30 puntos en la base por 45 vueltas, pero añadí dos puntos adicionales de cada lado para que el diseño no quedara en el borde y además añadí seis vueltas en la base y dos al final.


The reverse side of the mat is not very esthetic, at least in my case, but it is possible that for those who already master the technique to perfection, it will be very neat on both sides. I'm going to use this one to make a small purse for Rafaella, so I'm going to make a background and this part that I don't like so much will be perfectly hidden between the lining and the mat. La parte inversa del tapete no queda muy estética, al menos en mi caso, quedó así, es posible que a los que ya dominan la técnica a la perfección, les quede muy prolijo por ambos lados. Este lo voy a usar para hacer una pequeña cartera para Rafaella, entonces le pienso realizar un fondo y esta parte que no me agrada tanto queda perfectamente oculta entre el forro y el tapete.
