Greetings again to all Hivers who collect and are passionate about the succulents in this group. As usual, I bring you a new update of hybrids obtained by me in my personal collection of succulents. If this is the first time you read my articles, let me tell you that I specialize in the cultivation and genetic improvement of succulent plants belonging to the Stapeliinae subtribe of the Apocynaceae family. These plants are colloquially known as carrion flowers or star plants because of the smell and shape that most flowers give off. One of my main objectives in hybridization is to obtain attractive coloration patterns in flowers and, in addition, to achieve plants with flowers that are not very odorous for Humans. Attractive flowers without a perceptible rotting odor would be the best result so that they can be cultivated by a larger public.
Saludos nuevamente a todos los Hivers que coleccionan y les apasionan las plantas suculentas de este grupo. Como es costumbre, les traigo una nueva actualización de híbridos obtenidos por mí en mi colección de suculentas personal. Si es la primera vez que lees mis artículos, les comento que me especializo en el cultivo y mejoramiento genético de plantas suculentas pertenecientes a la subtribu Stapeliinae de la familia Apocynaceae. Estas plantas son conocidas coloquialmente como flores de carroña o plantas estrella por el olor y forma que desprenden las flores de la mayoría. Uno de mis objetivos principales en la hibridación es la obtención de patrones de coloración en las flores atractivos y, además, lograr plantas con flores poco olorosas para el Humano. Flores atractivas y sin olor a putrefacción perceptible serían el mejor resultado para que puedan ser cultivadas por un mayor público.
Today I show you 4 new hybrids that manage to flourish in my collection, reaching the current figure of 124 new hybrid variants for the ornamental plant market. Two of these hybrids belong to the Huernia genus, one to Orbea and the other is an intergeneric hybrid between Huernia and Duvalia called x Huervalia. All these flowers show an interesting ornamental potential for commercialization.
Hoy les muestro 4 nuevos híbridos que logran florecer en mi colección llegando a la cifra actual de 124 nuevas variantes híbridas para el mercado de plantas ornamentales. Dos de estos híbridos pertenecen al género Huernia, uno a Orbea y el otro es un híbrido intergenérico entre Huernia y Duvalia llamado x Huervalia. Todas estas flores muestran un potencial ornamental interesante para la comercialización.
