Hever Castle, England
Hever Castle is famous for being the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Who was Queen of England for about a year till she lost her head.
Although called a castle, with it's fortified walls and a moat and small size it is more of a manor home, it is definitely a must see if visiting London.
Built around 1270, it was was in the state of disrepair and in 1903 William Waldorf Astor purchased and restored and built an addition on the site.
Only 50 min from London by train, it is easy to get to and a nice walk past a sheep farm to reach the property.
The home is loaded with artwork, furniture and artifacts from the Tudor period as well as from the Astoria era.
The woodwork is exceptional as well, with an informative audio tour you can easily spend over an hour exploring the home.
Like all English manors there are gardens, 125 acres of well maintained walking paths and even a small lake. Be sure to allow an entire day to explore.
There are many events, even jousting, so check their calendar and plan accordingly.
