It's actually two paddles and one piece of a tree branch for the rings. I did carve the paddles, but I have others with natural wood figure as the design.

Hi, yes, deer tail brushes with iron pigment derived from an iron rich sedimentary strata exposed on a mountain near my studio.

Now that I finished the rear stack shown in this post, I estimated the count at about 300 pots. For the whole kiln, probably about 600-1000 pots, depending on the size.

If you don't like fire that much, probably an electric kiln is the way to go. Not so much contact with the actual fire. My favorite kiln is my wood kiln. I think most wood kiln firers have at least a little

They are AMAZING if you work with short clays and/or porcelain. If you're working with plastic clays, standard ribs might be better. Large amount of contact surface area gets kind of sticky with plastic

The great thing about pottery is you can make your own tools, even the kiln. You don't need a studio, just some table space. Go for it!
