Lighthouse is a movie you will love or hate. If you know H. P Lovecraft then you know what he made strange blasphemous tales full of fish and the famous Cthulhu.
Lighthouse is a nod and probably the best vision of Lovecraft's work, although the film has no mention of any storytelling, there is an atmosphere only known to fans of the Providence hermit.
The film is actually a spectacle of two people, full of strange sounds and deepening madness. The film tells about a young deputy who got a job with a senior Lighthouse Keeper, the monthly service, which was supposed to be tough, sent an adequate salary, but bad luck wanted the boat that the young deputy was waiting for did not show up, and one month begins to stretch into longer and longer days sprinkled with alcohol.
The film perfectly describes the psychological stage of a person who is with the other person all the time and cannot free himself from him, and the constant binge at night causes hallucinations related to sirens to begin.
The film is strong and direct, it gives the viewer a gloomy picture of madness where there is no other way. Two men in one house and a constant storm cannot end well.
The young deputy also has a lot on his conscience, although in this story only the Lighthouse Keeper who hides something in a mysterious lighthouse is worse. Evil confuses the heroes all the time, and the constant lack of trust causes worse and worse relations.
When it comes to the visual side, it is a brilliant movie made in the 4: 3 format, it brings to mind productions from the 20s, the music is typical for older productions, intensifying an event, so without knowing the movie, you can feel that the movie was created a long time ago.

During the film, there will be one sound that can drive you mad as much as a young deputy. I personally liked the movie very much, there was never a movie that would be a veritable volcano of references to the work of HP Lovecraft, even in a very good Dagon, I could not feel this atmosphere here, the atmosphere floods us like a wave hitting lanterns.
Many when Robert Pattison was discontinued when he starred in Twilight, however, in this film he shows such a high class that only William Dafoe is sometimes better, but it is a two-person cinema a two-generation show of a young four and an old man.
Each frog has secrets and each of them hides something. The answer is in the lantern. For me, the film is a real masterpiece and the director Robert Eggers created something that is a long-forgotten thriller that scares what is unknown for which great respect because such films in these modern times are real gems of cinema. It's worth looking at the 10/10 movie for me
