It is becoming much easier for me to read this blog after I finally figure out the difference between the Church of England, Catholic church and the so-called Puritan. Now I know both Puritan and the Church of England belong to Protestantism. Thanks to a video titled "the Introduction of Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism". It is the first time for me to keep in touch with the specific doctrines in details, through which I feel I've just entered the inner spiritual world of the common western people. Just like by reading Haiku, we can understand the aesthetics of Japan. For my part, the viewpoint on Capitalism from its author Max Weber is just opposite to Karl Mark's thoughts. It is said that the writings on Marxism are still regarded as the banned books in the west world, isn't it?
Oh, you know it is always rather difficult for me to understand monotheism, since we are instilled the atheism---
Marxism and Confucianism from the childhood. Of course, there is also the local Chinese religion --Taoism which should be a kind of polytheism. For example, in Taoism, there is the Dragon King in the sea, and the Earth God under the land, the Flower Fairy in the peony flowers, etc. I can say almost every Chinese loves watching a TV series named Pilgrimage to the West/西游记--a combination of Chinese Taoism and Indian Buddhism which will be replayed during every Chinese Spring Festival.
This sentence is so wonderful! The long years of worship--we people are just a kind of creature with the strong worship/love!
A quilt of quietude woven through the stones in long years of worship.
However, I have a question. Would you please tell me about what Davenport in your poem means?Thank you a lot!
