So true! The same feeling is just what I once had--“like their mind had stopped”! Because the huge tragedy just ruined and removed your thoughts and education background, so you just became "a white board", returning to the baby condition. Be that as it may, you are still alive and your life still continues! But you are not what you were any more; you have forsaken your previous faith completely.
It is absolutely some deepest kind of interpretation about people who are overwhelmed!
Pitifully common people don't know how to express them!
They realised that rather than what their families had been saying "oh you just went through trauma and were left hallucinating" that place of quiet peace is actually where we as humans are born into, it is where we create our best things/words/thoughts, it is not an unnatural state, it is just one that the world and other people teach us not to abide in.
True, you see, it would be absolutely impossible for me to curse "the Great Firewall" before since our government is like God. God is always right! We common Chinese believe in Confucianism and Marxism! I never thought someday I could doubt and overthrow part of Chinese culture/education! (I agree on your view of why William Blake couldn't get the recognition he deserved when he was alive. On the contrary, he was even regarded as a mad man.)
At the very moment, Haiku entered my life like a savior. I suddenly realized the beauty of the famous "a frog of the old pond" from Basho!
"In an old quiet pond, a frog leaps at one blow, and soon the pond is calm again."
This Haiku depicts my condition vividly!Yeah, from the appearance, nothing changed! I am the same as before. Nobody knows how I have gone through such huge kind of ups and downs and caused such a disaster! Even worse, it seems nobody can understand my story and suffering which tortures me deeply.
It is said that Basho was actually a nijia and he wrote Haiku while he was travelling the country and gathering intelligence. He had the acute power of observation, so he could capture the details in private and create the classical Haiku!
Thanks to the Haiku which is a bridge guiding me to enter your profound writing world and learn/understand/appreciate your wonderful poems/articles! Only God knows how happy and honored I am to have the chance to communicate with you--a great poet directly! I even sincerely pray that someday you can write an outstanding and meaningful epic novel according to my specific life experience!
