So Wednesday I took advantage of a beautiful day to go and hike the Gold-mint Trail Up in Hatchers Pass Alaska. I can't tell you how many times iv been up there and the sites still to this day take my breath away. The summer time its all grass and sunshine ( sometimes) and the views are spectacular.
The picture above was taken last fall just before winter hit. If your an Alaskan and you know Hatchers Pass you know just how beautiful the fall colors can be. Below was a picture I took that same day, its one that shows just how amazing the sites are there.
The winter time in Hatchers is another of its own. Thats when the real magic happens. During the winter months, the sunsets we get are just breath taking, sometimes you look out the window and you think the sky is on fire.
If your lucky you might even be able to catch the Northern lights ( Aurora Borealis ). Seeing these gasses just dancing across the sky is a real site to see. I was lucky one night to catch this amazing site from my back yard.
But to this day the one image that really makes me proud to be a photographer was the one I'm about to show you. This image took me a very long time to get right. Full of missed shots, under exposed, over exposed blurry, to long on the shutter to where the stars start to blur. Very frustrating. This night everything came together for me. And I can tell you right now, this one of the coldest nights up on that mountain, but god was it worth it.
