A Spotlight on Content Creators
On my travels to blockchains far and wide, visiting online communities has been a regular and rewarding endeavor. I have wandered into governance forums, application forums, discords, sites for writers, blockchain communities, and of course various groups of active Twitter enthusiasts. The quality and quantity of engagement varies widely from one community to another. Kicking off a new series, I will spotlight the content creators that I believe deliver valuable, informative, and high quality video channels, podcasts, and blogs.
The IBC Gang
Earlier this year, I discovered a community with a YouTube channel that was unlike any other I had entered before. I was instantly attracted to the content on the channel, the grassroots community engagement, and the genuine nature of its host and members. I want to highlight what makes this gang of enthusiasts so special, what type of content is presented every day, and how the community is growing organically.
Highlighting the Cosmos
Honest and real is the best way to describe the content that Tank and the IBC Gang deliver with the daily live streams and special videos on YouTube. The channel was clearly started to benefit the burgeoning Cosmos community with a focus on current and useful information about projects, teams, coins and tokens, NFT’s, and relevant events in this great ecosystem of sovereign blockchains.
Tank doesn’t just highlight the builders and the projects, but also the community members that actively conduct analyses, write twitter threads, review NFT’s, and publish articles. The work of interns, community moderators, validators, and developers is regularly discussed and promoted on the IBC Chang channel.
Daily Macro Discussion, News, and Analysis
Each IBC Gang live stream kicks off with an analytical review of the macro environment, linked to a chart analysis of the major crypto coins and tokens: BTC, ETH, and ATOM. Subsequently, additional charting analysis focuses on a rotating squad of other important Cosmos tokens, including the blockchain governance tokens of the Juno Network, the Secret Network, and the Osmosis Zone. Tank is always open to chart other tokens based on requests from the live chat.
The ability to tie what is going on at a micro level for a particular blockchain to the wider macroeconomic events at play is one of Tank’s super powers. He has a real knack for explaining how the world economy impacts our portfolios in an easy-to-understand format. The live stream also touches on specific tidbits of news affecting specific projects in the Cosmos.
Foster Partnerships and Introduce the Builders
Giving the community an opportunity to listen to the founders, developers, validators, and marketeers of existing, up and coming, as well as future projects is another feature of the IBC Gang channel.
Amongst others, Tank has interviewed and hosted founders from Konstellation Network, Passage3D, Comdex, PBCups Validator, and Notional Validators. Community representatives from Sifchain and Raccoon Supply have also joined the livestream.
The focus has consistently been on fostering partnerships with others in the Cosmos ecosystem. For example, the IBC Gang has started working together more and more with Notional Validators.
Adding the NFT Experience
Combined with a growing interest for NFT’s from the communities across the Cosmos, the IBC Gang now has a regular feature with Homestead Cosmonaut. Every Thursday, NFT collections, artists, and events are discussed on the livestream.
Tank has also announced a NFT project of his own that is still under development, but could launch on Stargaze as soon as a month from now.
Genuine, Unafraid, and Honest
The IBC Gang YouTube Channel already has a good formula and personally I look forward to listening to the daily live streams. Since they are on YouTube, I can also watch them later if I am unable to catch the show live. Just from watching the shows for a few months, I have already witnessed a willingness to adapt to the changing environment. Tank has introduced new features, fostered new partnerships, and is even adding a new project. I value the entrepreneurial spirit and it is evident in everything that this entertaining channel stands for.
As Tank has pointed out frequently to the IBC Gang community, it is not easy building a video channel during the bear market. However, if anyone has a real shot at successfully growing engagement and building a sustainable community that can extend beyond the current lackluster market, it is Tank. With genuine commentary, honest opinions, useful charting analyses, and informative guest appearances, the IBC Gang is a resource, full of valuable information, all wrapped up into an entertaining show!
