Luke Plays To Earn created amazing tool to analyze profit if a player is renting power.

According to his tool, if I need to rent 15,000 CP at 300CP/DEC, my profit will be 48 DEC in 28 matches on 50% win rate. That means in 84 minute (assume each game is 3 minute), I can make around $0.578 + 2 Loot Chest (daily) which also values around $0.578 each. I was thinking of playing Splinterlands actively and make some money as a new player. Turns out, it not worth for me to spend most of my time on this game. So, I just playing Splinterlands for fun, since last season.

Over all, I think Splinterlands is a great game for fun, except one problem.
This game trying to over protecting early players. All those new rules are seems like to reward early players. Things like below:

  1. New cards only have 1/4 CP of old ones. Some Chaos cards only have 5 CP, what will happen to next version? Are we expecting 1 CP cards in a year? If we think differently, that means early players can easily make 4 or 5 times profit than new players in a year. It might be ok, if we think Splinterlands as pure investment, since we need to consider time value of money. But for a play to earn game, it might be a problem.

  2. Splinterlands adjusted Loot Chest rewards to prohibit Bots. Personally, I think it’s a good thing. But, it might be too early for this. I heard in some countries, people playing Axie Infinity as main source of household income. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s just the way how Axie Infinity marketing themself. Splinterlands banned free players and multi-accounts too early, because they thinking every DEC earned by those players are out from early player’s pocket. My point is prohibiting Bots is a good thing, but it might be too early.

  3. Voucher system. A few days ago, Splinterlands was thinking about private sale. Most players thinking it will only benefit certain big buyers, now Splinterlands cancelled private sale. For me, voucher system is same thing as private sale, it is just for protecting early players. Some YouTubers saying voucher system is protecting the game from million dollar buyers buying packs and resale it on secondary market. It is not true!!! Best way to fix this is set a daily purchase limit, maybe limit 1,000 packs daily per player. In this way, new players have equal opportunity to purchase and enjoy the game. Look at those what does those youtubers saying, they predicting Chaos will be sold out in a day, even in an hour. It might be good for marketing, but not good for long run for this game.

Conclusion, Splinterlands is a great card game, I am really enjoying it and playing it for fun. But, as a new player, I hope I can having an equal opportunity in this game.
