The crypto markets can be turbulent, volatile and so unpredictable. Sometimes the coins you sell go up in price, or the ones you buy immediately come down. Not everyone is good at reading charts and not everyone is an expert, yet in cryptos we often try to create opportunities for ourselves to do something new and exciting, like maybe buying some more interesting coins!
It's always fun to do things in groups, and the same can apply to cryptos too. 
Although I didn't join the earliest one, I was able to get in on few of the recent groupbuys, and these were coins that I was looking to get into for some time now, but I guess I was just procrastinating or being too lazy to buy them.
