They were more involved with people skills and communicate with upper management as well as other departments in a way they can make better decisions.
The rise of AI changes all that as managers still start no manage agents and other non human interface. Data information will increase and departments will slim down. Making the manager gave to learn these interface and extract the right type of information. Hopefully learning at least the basics of AI could go a long way to increase operations, projects and planning.
