The best Isekai in the world is back. What a start of the second part of season 4. Officially episode 12 we left off with Subaru and Emilia dying in the hole of the witch. A very dramatic and also emotional episode where Beatrice sacrifice herself for Subaru and proving their love for him. Just as we saw on the first part, this time, we start with Subaru coming back from the dead. He finally understand who killed him, and we learn why she did that.
One thing that I have thought about and learn from other reactors as well is that Subaru is changing. After his memory loss, he has understood the individual feelings of his colleagues. From Emilia and Beatrice on last episode, to Ram and Meili on this one. So with understanding comes the change of position and stop trying to solve everything himself. This was clear after Meili tried to end herself.
I know ReZero is a bit hard to get as it gets on these battle loops where he looses many times until he finally figure out. This can become tedious for the viewer and sometimes ironic, as he is looking forward how will he miss this time. But just like videogames, is something that we get to endure as we try to find a way to beat the level and bosses through repetition. So is a feeling that many gamers will realize.
One thing I notice, is that beyond the action, the loop also works as a relationship council. Is not just wining and loosing bosses or enemies, but also how you deal with the issues and how people react around you. Perhaps the way you word things will have a different effect on the people that want to help you but doesn't have enough to do it. But also could be a turnaround moment for some people from being contenders to being allies. This goes deeper than the gamer focusing on the fight, this has to do with everyone's fight. We all have family and friends that we don't know how to communicate so we push away to deal with our problems ourselves, while sometimes is with them that you could get a better shot at solving them. Accepting our vulnerabilities and asking for help is what make us more human to people and we can catch more breaks as their understanding of the situation increases.
The other part of the show, is the life of Meili, the story of how she was raised by animals, and how she lost her animal adopted mother to a new mother that raised her into human-hood. Unfortunately this also caused her relationship with loved ones to be fractured and remember she was raised to be an assassin, which meant in essence, killing as way to fix problems. But also the act of killing will break someone into going on a killing spree as he see that as less moral issue and more of a logical answer as it usually work in the short time and space. Personally as I admire the higher sense of dealing with a killer, I wonder if the same treatment will she get if she was a strong guy. I don't see Subaru acting the same way if the subject was Julius or Felix.
