Recently I was able to find a show that I enjoyed for the longest but unfortunately I wasn't able to finish. So I decided to look around and was able to find it now in all its glory however, I decided to start from the very beginning. The show is called Halt and catch fire, it's supposed to be a computer command similar to halt -p, the command hcf is really a fictional command taken from the inside jokes of having the system stop and burn the operation, similar to "Self destruct now" out the real command kill -9. The show titles this as a metaphor for the drama of a young executive that bets everything on a mission even if it cost him his job, his money, or his career.
The show is a drama that documentarize the IT world from the PC world of the 80s to the rise of the internet. Going through the personal computer wars to the rent of systems to other corporations, to PC game industry and eventually the start up world. All this happens while the show follow 3 main characters, an executive named Joe McMillan, an engineer and his family named Gordon Clark and a rebel college student turned first year programmer named Cameron Howe.
The three protagonists of the story all worked for a company in Texas called Cardiff Electric which through Joe's plan, he turned it into a micro PC vendor through an open architecture.
I recommend watching the show to anybody that likes computers, the story of computers and also want to enjoy a nice story. Nice. Not in a nice way, but a chaotic drama full of backstabbing and manipulation and toxic behavior whatsoever. If you think like right now there's nothing to watch. I recommend you to check that out. I'm not really sure which carrier have that for streaming, but I know there should be some and just stream it and let me know what you think.
