So we are already on episode 3 of the Ghost in the shell anime series. The anime has been pretty loyal to the manga but not that much to the anime. However one thing that has been interesting is the overall environment of the anime vs the movie. I have already said that the art style is quite different and the personalities of the characters are more comical than the serious tone of the anime.
Things have shown off on the series are the iconic scenes of building an android/cyborg and the process it involved. The anime show this process explained by one of the engineers to the officer Makoto. However the whole exchange felt like if they were just doing some crafty procedure as opposed of everything being so automated on the movie.
The more 'car workshop' look and feel makes it even more comical to a degree but also give a different aura to the whole show. I really enjoyed the series so far, specially after reading some parts of the manga. It gives me a better understanding of how this show will go in the future. One thing that I have to say is that Makoto is a more vivid character and more expressive and very funny. She also have hobbies and friends, which is a depart from the lonely visuals of her living in an empty apartment. The philosophical questions are thrown in less dramatic fashion, even over having coffee and parfait.
The action on this one keeps getting covered and the way the agents of team 9 perform their missions and how the disclosure of the criminal mastermind is starting to intercept their movements. Making it difficult on figuring out who or what is manipulating the people around GIS.
So far it's been great, and I advice on watching it maybe a couple of times per episode as you might miss a lot of information on just one take.
Enjoy watching this series, and I think I would love it by the end of the arc.
