It’s been almost 5 years since I last went on an island trip with my friends and I am badly missing it. Since today is a long weekend, February 24 (Cebu Charter Day) and February 25 (EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary), allow me to reminisce this moment. Welcome to my #ThrowbackThursday when we went on a 3D2N (3 days & 2 nights) adventure in Carnaza Island.
Even before Carnaza Island blew up and trended last 2018, my friends and I decided to go there to celebrate our College Graduation last April 2017. Although not all of us graduated, some are still studying, we agreed to relax before we apply for work.
Getting there was not a big problem. My friends and I are locals from Daanbantayan, Cebu, the municipality where Carnaza Island is part of. Luckily, one of my friends has a classmate living on the island, so he communicated with him for us to get a discount on the boat. We only paid 50 PHP ($ .97) during that time. According to my sources, the fare going to Carnaza Island now is around 250 PHP ($ 4.87).
Here's us enjoying the 2-hour boat ride, but behind the camera, some of my friends are getting seasick... including me. We were all looking forward to witnessing the island so we had to endure the long ride. 🌊
The 2-hour boat was absolutely worth it upon seeing the marvelous island of Carnaza.
The water was crystal clear and the sea was calm and beautiful.

We visited the place of my friend’s classmate so we can settle our things and decide which part of the island we are going to put up our tents. We were so thrilled that we decided to rent a boat and go around the island by sea. The local who owns the boat even insisted that we don’t pay him, but we insisted otherwise.

Do you know what's good about going on a travel with your friends? You will get to know them better. I just found out that some of my friends don't know how to start a fire, identify what is dry and wet wood, and don't know how to cook decent food. And yes! There were lots of arguments, but that's totally normal.
Going up the hill was totally worth it when we witnessed this magnificent sunset. Of course, we had to take silhouette pictures to post on our Instagram. 😂
Carnaza Island does not have electricity most of the time and the phone signal is very bad. I don't know much about astronomy, but nighttime on this island is phenomenal. There's always a shooting star every minute. This was the perfect place for us to have long late-night conversations. No phones, no distractions. Just us and our stories.
