For about 5 years I lived across the road from this little lake. I saw it in the spring, summer, fall, and winter. I fished on the lake, had campfires with friends next to the shore, swam, picked the apples on the old trees by the bank, and photographed it in every season. I learned a lot about photography and life during my time near this lake. Because of that, this scene inspires many memories and feelings for me.
Photography is a vehicle for memories and feelings. For some people I believe this is what music does. You may remember exactly where you were and how you were feeling the moment you first heard a song. Those kinds of things stay with you. For me, photography is how I transport back in time, and relive those memories and feelings.
I often find it's difficult to express why a photo is so powerful to me, but I believe that often times it is because of what I felt or was going through when I made the photo.
Can you relate to this? I'd enjoy hearing what takes you back in time.
