Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.
Some people come into our lives to teach us lessons either the easy or the hard way, while others come into our lives to make marks, push us to achieve great things, and stay forever. Recently, while scrolling through some Facebook reels, I watched a video where a man said “There are people who come into your lives like boosters for a rocket. If you ever watch a rocket go into space, the boosters fall off when it reaches a certain altitude” some of us are destined to achieve greater things and to get to greater altitude. Some people cannot handle us and the greater altitude we want to reach, so they fall off. So I’m not always surprised when I make friends with people and they fall off. It is very surprising how you make friends with people, thinking and hoping the friendship would last forever, but before you know it, they fall off and stab you in the back.
Taking a short trip down memory lane, I remember the types of friends I’ve made in the past. I’ve made lots of friends in the past, but today, just a few of them are still my friends. Growing up, I was the type of person that lived making friends. I didn’t have a problem making friends with people within a short period of time. But something changed me. I had an awful experience and that stopped me from wanting to make friends with people. I changed from that “cool guy that likes making friends” to “the guy that just wants to be left alone”. I tried so much not to make friends again. But it is not possible to stay alone. You need friends. One needs to network and to make connections. However, you don’t have to please people. You don’t need 1000 friends, as long as you have a few good and loyal ones.
I love to keep my circle small. In my opinion, that’s the best way to live life. I have good friends, but I’m close to just about 2 or 3 people. Everything has a beginning. Do I remember the very first day I met Ella? Oh yes!
My First Encounter
I remember the first time we met like it was yesterday. We got admitted and matriculated to the same school at the same time. But it wasn’t until the second semester that we started talking. She is one of the popular girls in class. Although she doesn’t like the popularity. She became popular when she won a beauty contest. Throughout the first semester (our first 3 months in school), we never had a conversation. I knew she existed, I knew her as my departmental mate, but never had a cause to talk to each other.
It wasn’t until the second semester that we started talking. We had a group presentation and the lecturer divided us into 6 groups and we were in the same group. We had a meeting that day and we sat down together. “I don’t even understand what they are saying” were her first words to me. I smiled and explained everything to her. The group later divided us into sub-groups. Ella and I were together again. We were given a topic to research. I got her WhatsApp number and chatted with her when I got back to my hostel. We chatted for hours that day. We chatted so much that we even forgot about the assignment.
Ella and I became so close in no time. We motivate each other. She’s my departmental mate, and we offer the same courses. She’s the type of friend that is always ready to help in needy times. We are good friends and we benefit from each other. I don’t know what the future holds, I’m glad I have a friend that protects me.
