Hope is the better feeling than that of dismay that there's nothing ahead for all your efforts. It's what keeps driving us forward to an unknown path. To be cautious is wise and perhaps expected. Some have to wait and see their blessings to actually appreciate them. I'm pleased you liked how the story developed in both instances with the believer and non-believer. Sometimes it takes one who has such faith that it can't but be infectious.
