I feel @kemmyb that the controversy exists because there has never been an instant of one returning to spread the word. So, of course, human nature being prone to fantasize about the experience embeds theories that people readily accept for one reason or another.

For each person, the afterlife represents something different whether taking something with them or expectations of something new. Hopefully, peace wherever one lands is on the horizon because the turmoil of "in real life" certainly creates a hopefulness that something better exists.
