Hi Hive Lovers
On the way home from school pickup, I just had an important talk with my seven-year-old son, who was finishing his elementary school math test.
When the math exam was almost over, my son's math teacher reminded him that he should not help one of his classmates who had trouble remembering how to solve a math problem.
He has raised objections to his math teacher, saying that "I'm only helping to show the steps to complete the calculation, and I'm not providing answers to any of the questions in the problem."
It turned out that my son was not satisfied with his math teacher's explanation, and he asked me again.
Why can't I help someone in trouble, when I could?
I couldn't hold off on answering that question, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer that really works for this child who is learning.
This is about the principle lesson of our life. That we should help each other in our life. Helping one another is a universal benevolent value. Kindness to those who are helped and kindness to those who help.
Before answering his question, I asked him another question. "Did your math teacher help you and your friends by showing you how to solve those math calculations during your exams, even though your math teacher could do it, right?" My handsome kid is just silent. I think he's starting to understand.
My handsome kid's question shifted the other way: "Why do students have to take exams, even though our teachers can already assess our abilities?"
The answer is from the traffic police
I had not had time to answer the question above when a traffic police stopped my car and asked me to show my driver's license. - I'm sure you don't want to know what happened at this point.
We continued our journey, and our conversation was cut off due to the presence of the traffic police earlier. I again asked him, "Why did the traffic cop ask me to show my driver's license, even though he already knew I could drive?"
My handsome kid didn't answer my question; instead, he asked another one: "Does the traffic police help someone learn how to drive, and when can I drive like you?"
Our talk ended as we arrived home.
wise in helping
We are social beings who cannot live alone and need the help of others, right?. This is where the attitude of helping one another originates. Open the door of your heart to help each other.
Help can come in any form and in any way. It always has a positive connotation; it is geared toward doing kindness for others with the assistance. It's not called helping if it causes harm or ugliness to others.
Helping others also always has reasons and interests, but helping the most is free of any reasons and interests. It's similar to helping someone you don't know for no other reason or interest than to help.
The best motivation to help is just to make ourselves happier and more meaningful, but both are also reasons and interests. That is why it is said that helping is not free of motives and interests.
Whatever our reasons and interests are for helping others, we also need to be wise in doing so. Not just by fulfilling wishes and because we can help, but so that the help is received and becomes meaningful for the right people, in the right way, at the right time.
