Hi Hive Lovers
Money is everyone's problem, especially how it is used. Often, some people will run out of money prematurely because of careless use or because they waste money on things that are really not necessary.
Someone who is holding money can be analogous to holding a lump of ice that has unknowingly been used up by itself due to the melting process.
It doesn't matter how rich a person is or how much money a person has; if it is not managed properly, the amount of money a person has will eventually run out.
Often, the money you have will run out because it is spent on various things. It's all about fulfilling needs and wants.
Well, need fulfillment and want fulfillment are two very different things that everyone needs to take seriously.
1. Wants come from needs
Of course, we all have to eat to survive. But we are often looking for "something else" to consume. I mean, something else is a factor in one's taste.
The taste factor is a person's motivation to seek and get various choices to fulfill it.
Just take the example of a person's need or desire for food. Someone will seek out and try to get whatever food is available. This is related to what the food is, where to eat it, and the price.
Basically, a person's need is limited to eating, because whatever food can make them feel full is needed to survive. However, when fulfilling the desire to eat, a person develops his desire because, when a person eats a desired food, besides being full, it will also bring satisfaction to them.
2. Objective and subjective factors
'Needs' is everything that a person needs in order to survive, which is fundamental in nature. All of that concerns the main things that must be fulfilled by someone, namely food, clothing, and recidence. These three things are the foundation of life that must exist; that's why they are objective.
Meanwhile, 'wants' is something that is only limited to being desired and secondary. It's just a factor of taste to fulfill satisfaction alone. Someone has the choice to fulfill it or not; that's why it's subjective.
'Needs' are always objective, while 'wants' are always subjective.
The social and cultural environment in which a person lives greatly influences choices to fulfill various desires, no longer just seeking satisfaction but also lifestyle, prestige, and the determination of one's status.
In the example regarding food above, it can be seen that the 'want' concerns the fulfillment of food, not only to be full and to survive but for satisfaction. The pressure of socio-cultural factors has caused a person "to be forced" to choose luxurious food at elite and expensive dining places.
3. Choice between function and satisfaction
'Needs' always prioritize function, while 'want' only prioritizes satisfaction.
The function and satisfaction factors lie at the essence of the choice and fulfillment action.
All needs must be met by something based on its function, usability, and purpose.
One would eat any food to survive, or one would use any kind of clothing to cover and protect their body. But in fulfillment, everyone has their own taste and satisfaction. That is why the fulfillment of this appetite and satisfaction is called 'wants'.
For example, someone will choose to eat at a five-star restaurant or choose to wear clothes from a well-known brand, while on the other hand, someone will eat in a simple place or choose to wear cheap clothes that do not have a well-known brand.
In these two examples of circumstances, there are differences in terms of taste factors and satisfaction fulfillment scales. Even though eating and wearing clothes have the same function, namely eating to survive and wearing clothes to cover and protect the body.
So, it can be concluded that 'need' is the fulfillment of everything needed to support one's daily life. Meanwhile, 'wants' are all the excessive needs to satisfy tastes and satisfactions that are considered lacking.
'Need' is binding, coercive, and must be fulfilled by someone. Meanwhile, 'wants' are not binding, are not coercive, and do not have to be fulfilled immediately by someone.
Unfortunately, some of us don't realize which things we need; instead, we obey and prioritize what we want. If someone does not have good self-control and financial freedom, it will actually cause big problems in their life.
