But be kind to one another, merciful, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ. Ephesians 4:32
Many people are caught up in their guilt, regrets and their resentments, many of them wanting to forgive but "can not" are struggling with themselves and their expectations are wrong about forgiveness. It is true that there are people who constantly hurt you, who have hurt you and who do not deserve your forgiveness. But will that be what God wants for your life? Could it be that he wants you to live with bitterness? We must understand that resentment is not a pleasant feeling. This moves us away from the peace of God, every time you think or the person, circumstance that provoked you, you go back to experiencing all those unpleasant feelings like anger, impotence, frustration, pain, anxiety ... all this is toxic food that causes you Physical damage to your health and emotional in your mind. And you ask yourself: But God does not want him to live in bitterness. What do I do with those wounds? How do I get this grudge? How do I forgive?
It is important to understand that forgiveness is not emotion. We do not have to hope to feel any sympathy for the offender, to be able to forgive him, it is not excusing either, it does not mean approving what that person did, we do not need to agree with the offender, nor do we have to look for excuses for his behavior in order to forgive.
Forgiving is a decision, it is a "legal" issue to forgive means "to let go" or "to forgive a debt". Forgiveness is a process, it is something that you must leave behind, forgiveness is a liberation. It is never good to press someone to forgive, this only leads to superficial forgiveness. In some cases we will have to forgive many times, each time the wound arises in our memory and heart.
Jesus teaches us to love as well as to forgive "seventy times seven", indicating that they must be many times Matthew 18:22. Forgiving is something you do for yourself, and for the person who hurt you, when you forgive you release yourself from being able to fly, live fully and with health of mind, body and spirit, finding the peace of God. A gift that we receive when we recognize Jesus Christ as our savior, is forgiveness and God has forgiven us, he also expects us to forgive, because who are we not to do it. You will never have to forgive another person more than God has already forgiven you.
Friend (a) you can also receive the gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ so that you can grant forgiveness; Remember "nobody can give what they do not have and nobody should receive what they do not want" (free will). Tell God then to his grudges and begin to live the extraordinary life that God has prepared for you in his hands, and entrust to him his cause, life.
God bless you greatly
