"I love you" ,a sentence that said and meant a lot in the days of my fathers.
A sentence with so much value, only said in whispers and far from earshot
It was only used by men who knew it's worth and women that understood it's meaning .
A word that meant so much in the days of my mothers when women were still bloody virgins and sex was still as sexy as hell.
Now in my generation, its sang as a National Anthem by both young and old
Along the streets and down the alleys.
No one cares about it's meaning and non is interested in knowing it's worth.
Sex is now the new definition of "I love you"
And heart break is now it's latest trade mark.
It cries out in the cold where we've stripped it off all it's got, begging for the return of the days of our fathers.
