In the pond in front of my house there is a water hyacinth plant which I deliberately let live because water hyacinth has quite beautiful flowers. In addition, water hyacinth leaves can be used as fish food.

When I was at the edge of the pond I found two green grasshoppers with different body shapes, yes one was a bit bigger and seemed fatter and the other had a slender body. I believe that slim-bodied locusts are male locusts and fat-bodied locusts are female locusts. But I will not discuss about the male or female grasshoppers. Here are some results I found using a cellphone camera without the aid of a tool to check images.

There were grasshopper bite marks on the water hyacinth leaves which caused holes in the water hyacinth. The locusts seemed quite greedy to devour the water hyacinth leaves that grew in the pond. It is possible that if the locusts in large enough quantities can quickly deplete farmers' agricultural crops.

Thank you to all my friends who have stopped by on my blog, I hope this post is useful and can add to your collection of photos of insects, especially grasshoppers.
