Welcome back to my post this time. In this post I want to share a story about the water guava tree that I planted in my yard a year ago and it has started to change. Here are some photos of the harvest of water guava fruit and I just picked them. But unfortunately the flesh of the water guava that I just picked was rotten.

When I picked the water guava fruit, I noticed a type of insect that landed on the water guava fruit. Maybe this type of insect is what causes the fruit to rot. This insect has a body shape similar to a bee with a yellowish color and is slightly beautiful. It turns out that this is a fruit pest insect and is called a fruit fly. This fruit fly is a female fly. When adult female fruit flies enter the reproductive period, they will deposit their eggs in the water apple fruit by piercing it. In a few days, these eggs will hatch and become larvae shaped like small white caterpillars. Fruit fly larvae will survive in their host's fruit by eating the flesh of the fruit until they become adult fruit flies. As a result, water guava will rot and fall so that the water guava harvest is not optimal. This is a fruit fly that I found and landed on a water guava fruit.
This is a challenge for me for the upcoming water guava harvest season. I have to find out how to ensure that next harvest season my water guava fruit is free from fruit fly attacks.
