I have always felt a special inclination towards them and I have always considered them, in the world of birds, the worthy representatives of a rank, metaphorically speaking and saving distances, which could be compared to the human proletariat.
Their liveliness, their intelligence and above all their great passion for freedom, have also made that, transferred to the fascinating world of Literature, the sparrows, in my opinion, represent Dickens' minions or even the buscones of our century de Oro, capable, by instinct and determination, of facing the circumstances of life, just recently released their wings.
Their singing, unlike the sophisticated chirping of tenors and baritones, such as goldfinches and canaries, is a clashing of guitar and drum roll, like a powerful rock and roll, emerging from the depths of the suburbs.
In short: they will never be kings, but they are proud enough not to be jesters either.
