First post since HF22 after all the drama and downtime. Lots of hype everywhere on the blockchain, everyone is talking about #newsteem, bright future ahead and Steem is ready to Moon!
But the price of Steem doesn't necessary reflect that. It is down to as low as 15c these few days. Seems like only Steemians are excited about #newsteem, while everyone else still has no idea what this blockchain is about. To them, Steem is just one of the many social blogging platform out there trying to be the next Facebook or Twitter.
With #newsteem, I noticed there is a reduction of people using bidbots, and some bidbots owners had stopped their service or switched to other forms such as curating contents.
But when I look at the Steemit Trending page, it is still filled with posts talking about Steem or cryptos. "How to help Steem", "Take Steem to next level", "Daily crypto news", "Steem is great", "Steem is wonderful", etc etc. Is Steem all about Steem and cryptos only? Isn't this a social blogging platform? Shouldn't we see more blog posts on, say, travel? or fiction? or Movies reviews? Gardening? Science? Baking recipe? Animation? Gaming? on the main Trending page? This is the first page that any new user sees. It should contain familiar topics. Oh someone wrote about Gardening, earned $60 and reached the Trending page. Maybe I can do it too. But no, the new user sees all posts about Steem.
Writing about "How good is Steem" seems like the safest topic to get attention and upvotes. Just look at the Trending page and you will know what I mean. If you can't write, then how about creating meme glorying #newsteem? Good upvotes too and even can win some prize.
Anyway, perhaps we should give #newsteem more time to prove itself. The new SPS looks promising and hopefully it can bring more value to the blockchain soon. And finally, STINC will be halting the monthly selling of their Steem! This should bring some stability to the price of Steem (hopefully).
In the meantime, I am loving the increase in curation rewards from after the Hardfork. With only around 8000 effective sp, I am getting 4-5 sp in daily curation rewards. This is on par with previously delegating to bidbots.
Now I just need to find an effective way to use my free downvotes. Maybe some people will use their free downvotes on this post. LOL. Pls don't.
