The distance from home to school is not so far away, get me home and go to school on foot. Sometimes it makes me blame the situation. But that's what brought me to him.

It was a blazing day, making rows of ice sellers in front of my school flooded with buyers. As usual I came home from school, but I did not go the same way as the previous day because on the road there was improvement. I felt very upset, because it was the fastest way to the house. So I was forced to go another way a little way.

Along the way I vent my gut with an unclear grumbling. Suddenly my grumbling was stopped by a 60-year-old grandfather who was scavenging a trashcan, whatever he was looking for. After getting what he was looking for, he immediately took him to a very shabby little house between 2 luxury homes. It occurred to me that it must be his home. For some reason I was curious about the grandfather, I deliberately unlinked my shoelaces and tied them back in front of his grandfather's house. I glanced at the door of her house, from the outside I could see there was an old photo hanging on the wall. It was a photograph of a man who was riding on a stick in his bare hands with a boy and beneath it was a table on which was a broken pointed bamboo, a rusted cleaver and a pair of shoes.

Maybe too long to look at his house, suddenly the grandfather out.
"Hey! Why is it there? "Asked the grandfather to surprise me.
"Haah !! Sorry kek "I replied without looking and left to leave his house.

The next morning, I passed in front of the grandfather's house again. He was sitting in the doorway of his house. Unconsciously the ties of my shoe loosened.
"Son, tie your shoelaces first! Do not let you fall when you want to study, do not disappoint your hero earlier! "Said the grandfather when I walked right in front of his house.
Spontaneously I immediately squatted and tied it up and then ignore the grandfather without looking and without saying thank you.

Just walking a few yards from the grandfather's house, a middle-aged mother approached me.
"Son, do not go near him, he's crazy" said the mother
"What's wrong with you?"
"He's crazy, shouting as a child of a hero, away from him!" Explained the mother.
I am more and more curious about that grandfather, son of a hero? Who exactly is that grandfather?

After school I passed the grandfather's house again. There, the people were displacing the grandfather's house.
"This is my house, do not destroy my house!" Shouted the grandfather.
"Eeh .. old man! Can not build a house here! "Said one of the residents.
"Do not blame me for building a house here, this is my father's property. Blame those who flank my house, those who have robbed my house! "
"Better father come with us, stay in a better house than this." Persuaded a white-clad officer whom I had expected to be a psychiatric or nursing home.
"Where are you going to take me? I do not want to, I want to stay here, in my father's house! "
The grandfather was injected with anesthetic and was immediately taken to the car and left the people cheering. But not with me, there is a sense of pity that sneaks in my heart.

Suddenly a mother who had approached me that day, came to me again.
"Hey, boy, finally the old man is gone from here, you do not have to be afraid to pass here, it's safe," said the mother with a happy tone.
"Where did they take the grandfather away?" I asked
"He was taken to a mental hospital far away from here, so you need not worry," he said
"Why do not the people here like him?"
"Yeah, because he's crazy, screaming for comfort here, have you asked a lot" snapped the mother and left me.
"Is that the socialization of the people here?" I thought.

The next morning, I went to school past the old man's house, whereas the fastest road had been repaired, but I wanted to get through his house. His house was destroyed, only a few foundations still standing. Suddenly the tie of my shoe loosened, when I wanted to tie it back, my eyes fixed on the yellowed paper tucked into the old man's wooden pile, I took the paper, it said:

"Strengthen the tie of my shoelaces to keep my shoes from falling like you, Dad."

The handwriting was so beautiful, smooth rough with thick ink as if it did not want the writing to disappear. I was stunned for a moment, then folded the paper and slipped it into my diary.

5 years later ...
A very bright day, as bright as the faces of the students who will be shifted rope toganya. Including me, it does not feel like I've grown up.

Before leaving for the event I had been waiting for for about 4 years, I did not forget to tie my shoelaces. Immediately I remembered the old advice "tie your shoelaces, do not let you fall when you want to study." I smiled to myself.

"Why are you smiling?" Mom asked, startling me
"I'm happy with this day, because it's my day of glory. Bu .."
Mom just smiled, there was a look of pride on her face.
"Mother's a big boy now."
"Hurry up! You want to be late? "Dad said from the doorway.

After the show ends, Mom and Dad come home first because I'm going to celebrate this with my friends. After all the day's events are over, I direct my goal to go home. I'm not walking anymore, but using a dad's car 2 years ago. While at the crossroads near the house, I glanced at the street, a road that I had not missed for a long time, a path that was once small and only a shortcut, now turned into a wide, crowded street, and the road was also paved. When I got home I dropped my body on the bed until I was asleep.

The next morning, Mom told me to pack, because the day after tomorrow I will go to the country tetengga to continue my S2 studies there. Very grateful, because my parents are still able to finance my school. I promise them they will be proud of them.

As I was packing my old books, I found a dusty green diary, after the national exam I had no more books open. When I opened the pages of the book, I dropped an old paper. I opened the fold, it was the piece of paper I'd taken from the ruin of Grandpa's house five years ago. Instantly I wondered, how is Grandpa? Is it still alive? Then I put on my mother's leather jacket and rushed out of the house to Grandpa's house.

It's been a long time since I've crossed that road, the street I saw last night. Already much has changed, the little shops lining up have been transformed into storey shophouses. And I was very surprised because the grandfather's house had turned into a house of worship, and the two luxurious homes that flanked the house of the Grandfather once turned into a field. For me, this is a tremendous change in the past 5 years.

As I looked at the house of worship, I saw a stranger to me. A mother who had approached me that day. The mother was sitting on the porch of the house of worship, suddenly she called me.

"Son! Come here! "He shouted.
I hurried over.
"Yaa bu?" I asked
"You're big now."
I just smiled.
"I have not seen you for a long time, how are you?" He continued
"Good book."
"Great."
"Oh yeah I want to ask a question, grandfather who ever lived here used to be taken to a mental hospital where?" I asked
Upon hearing my question, Mom immediately cried.
"What's up?"
"I am a sinner, I am rebellious," she replied, sobbing
"Mother sinned why?"
"The old man .. He is my father, I am ashamed to have Dad like him, I do not want to admit him, I am a son of disobedience." The answer to surprise me, Grandpa is the father of this Mother?

"In the past, when I was little he always taught me to tie my shoelaces tightly to not let go. If released I could have fallen for stepping on it. His father or grandfather had once fallen on the battlefield because his laces were unbound. At that time my grandfather did not have boots for war, he had to use the strappy shoes to fight, so his legs were broken on the battlefield. That is why, Father always reminds me to tie my shoelaces strongly, not only to me, but to everyone including you, "explained the mother while crying.

So the picture is the grandfather with his father, the bamboo and machetes are his father's weapons of war and the shoes are the shoes that make the father's grandfather's foot broken.

"But my dad was too obsessed to advise people on the shoelaces, so he looks crazy. And that made me who just graduated from junior high school and my mother was sickened by it so we decided to leave home, "he continued, wiping away tears.

"Then why can you be here?" I asked.
"After all these years and I got married, I never thought my husband would ask to live here, I do not think my dad lived here anymore, but was wrong. He still stays here, in his father's house. "He replied, again wiping his tears away.
"At that time I was embarrassed to admit it, even my husband and children did not know that the old man is my father, I'm so sinful son." Spilled over his tears but his hands could not wipe away.

"Do not you intend to pick up Grandpa? in which mental hospital where Grandpa was? "I asked
"It's useless, he's gone. When I awoke to my attitude, then I wanted to take him home, I was late, he died when just 6 months was brought there. "
"I'm so sinful kid, I want to redeem it, but I do not think any deed can redeem it. By building this house of worship on his property, it can be my forgiveness to him. "

"Where was Grandpa buried?" I asked
"In a cemetery very far from here," he replied
The answer made me think of the answer five years ago, but not in the same vein. The tone this time, is a tone of regret.

The grandfather was gone, I feel like I'm sorry for my attitude that I did not want to look at him, and want to thank for the life lesson he gave me even just to tie the shoelaces.
