It will be better for the planet for one thing. The main reason its coming to fruition when it is IMO but one day it will as much and even more fun than reality. When the tech is there, right now it's not. People love playing grand theft auto because they can shoot cops and go look at dancing girls. The meta verse will bring all that shit to life with an immersive experience not much different from the real world. At that point it becomes more fun than the real world. Add the possibilities to make money in that world and you have something just as much fun and more lucrative than the real world.
