Did you store the wood? I have a stove and seem to believe that the wood needs at least 6 months if not a year to dry properly for burning in a stove. I like your thinking though its very much like i am, often wondering if i should just buy a bulk bag for £50 but the scrooge in me wants to do it myself. Plus wood you find, chop and dry yourself, warms you twice, :)
