The book of Esther tells of an enemy that wished for the annihilation of all Jews. Esther 3:13 reads:
“And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.” (KJV)
Besides being a fascinating story, there is also a prophecy hidden within the original texts of this account. The book of Esther tells of the Jews’ victory over Haman and his ten sons in specific detail, which is where the hidden prophecy can be found. Esther 9:5-14 reads…
“Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them. And in Shushan the palace of the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men. And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha, And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha, and Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha, The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand. On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king. And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done. Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows. And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.” (KJV)
To minimize confusion, let’s break this passage down in order of prophetic importance and first mention.
We are first told that the Jews defeated their enemies which totaled to five hundred men (Esther 9:5-6). Next, the names of Haman’s ten sons are listed and we are told they were defeated as well (Esther 9:7-10). We are then told that the king was informed of the number of those defeated (Esther 9:11). Next, the king asked Esther what request she had and promised to grant it to her (Esther 9:12). Lastly, and quite strangely, Esther requested that “to morrow…let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows”, to which the king made good on his promise by commanding it to be done, and so it was (Esther 9:13-14).
The word “morrow”, in Esther 9:13, comes from the Hebrew word “mahar” and can mean either “tomorrow” or “time to come”. Queen Esther may not have been making this request for the following day but may have been making a prophetic statement. We have two possibilities. Either Queen Esther wanted to wait until the following day and rehang the corpses of Haman’s ten sons for some strange reason, or she was prophesying that this same thing would happen again at some point in the future (the “time to come”). For obvious reasons, I lean toward the latter.
We can find further evidence of this by looking at the original Hebrew texts and how the names of Haman’s sons were listed out in Esther 9:7-9. There are four Hebrew letters that stand out in the list of the names of Haman’s ten sons (1). Three of the letters are noticeably smaller than normal whereas one is larger (2). The three Hebrew letters that are smaller are the “taf” in “Parshandatha”, the “shin” in “Parmashta”, and the “zayin” in “Vajezatha” (3). The larger Hebrew letter is the “vav” in “Vajezatha” (4).
In the Hebrew language, each letter of the Hebrew alphabet has a numeric value (5). The study and calculation of these numeric values to gain deeper insight is called “Gematria” (6). When we add up the numeric values of the four Hebrew letters that were unusually-sized in the original text of the list of Haman’s sons, we come up with the number 5707, which corresponds to a Hebrew calendar year (7). The year 1946 A.D. would be the same as the Hebrew year 5707 according to the Hebrew calendar (8). It seems, through this revelation, we are given a year for the judgment of Haman’s future sons.
The seventh day of Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles, is called “Hoshana Rabbah” (9). Interestingly enough, Hoshana Rabbah is the last of the Days of Judgment. The Feast of Tabernacles is outlined in Leviticus 23:33-44. Going along with this trend in the Days of Judgment, this gives us an exact date of the judgment to be carried out. The seventh day of the Sukkot in the Hebrew year 5707 would equate to October 16th, 1946 (10).
The amazing thing is that on October 16th, 1946, ten leading Nazis were hanged in Nuremburg, Germany for their crimes against the Jewish people (11). There were originally twenty-three that were on trial. Eleven were sentenced and one committed suicide before the sentencing was carried out, leaving ten that were hanged (12). Even though the sentencing was carried out by a military tribunal, they did not end up choosing a normal form of execution, such as by firing squad. Instead, they chose for the execution to be done by hanging, fitting right in with Queen Esther’s request (13).
It is traditionally believed that the German Nazis were of direct descendants of Amalek, thereby making them literal and biological “sons of Haman” (14). This could be the case and is definitely a valid viewpoint. Even if this is not the case, the ten executed Nazis still could have been considered as “sons of Haman” because they were clearly tied in with the same antichrist-spirit as the original ten sons of Haman. This amazing and in-depth prophecy shows us a clear link between Haman’s ten sons and the Nazi regime as well as establishes the legitimacy and accuracy of the Bible. Haman’s ten sons and the Nazi regime were both led by the spirit of antichrist. When the biblical notion of the spirit of antichrist is fully understood (not to be confused with the biblical end-time figure known as the Antichrist), we find the evidence of this is not only found within the Esther prophecy. Further evidence can be found by merely looking at the actions of Haman’s ten sons and Hitler’s Nazis. Both wanted the utter destruction of the Jewish people and attempted to carry this out within their own time period. Hatred of the Jews and the want for their destruction is a clear characteristic of the spirit of antichrist.
There is much, much more that could be said about this Esther prophecy. The information and strange occurrences surrounding this prophecy could easily fill a book of its own.
