To contribute to the question: Why did the Lord Jesus Christ cry...?
I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ cried or wept in John 11: 35, to show how compassionate he is towards man. He wept to reveal his human emotional feelings.
He wept to show us that he equally felt the pains of his friend's death.
According to John 11:36, the Jews said that he wept because he loved Lazarus his friend. So Jesus Christ wept out of love, pity and compassion.
In Hebrews 4:15, it is stated that Jesus Christ can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities too.
