"No economic problem has a purely economic solution." John Stuart Mill
Hello Hive community, I want to share my thoughts regarding this phrase that I found by chance, and truly that made me think for a long time, so I decided to write this publication and share my thoughts about it. Certainly, as John Stuart Mill (English philosopher and economist.) said in the 19th century, economic problems are not only solved by economics, and that's worth the redundancy. Why?, simple, because their origin is generally multi-diverse.
When we see someone in deplorable or very complicated economic conditions, we might think that by giving them something to eat or maybe paying one or two months rent we could help them a lot, and probably we could.
But the reality is that the problem remains the same, poverty, that condition is in the mind, a set of habits that have led him to it and that he will hardly abandon them.
But somehow it has been instilled in many that a government that gives away a few bags of food is "good government ", the truth is that this seems to me to be a way of buying people, who in some way will feel grateful and at the same time easily manipulated, but what really happens with the economy?.
Absolutely nothing.
Nothing has changed, everything remains the same, and people end up becoming more and more dependent. But there is nothing of formation that allows these people to achieve some future moment of independence. Besides, economic problems happen because of personal origin (vices, unnecessary expenses, low salaries, only one source of income, expenses due to illnesses), but in general the mind and the way in which they assume reality is the main thing.
Then, to be able to solve economic problems, goes much further than giving away money or food, because when this is over, it returns to the initial state. which is of scarcity.
There's something social that's handled as a kind of truth, and in reality it is, at least for a large majority. To think that money is bad, or that the rich are bad people, in a way is in the subconscious of many, and to eradicate this scheme of thinking is very difficult, but, it is part of the problem, and while that is not resolved, we continue in the same way.
As well as this, there is surely much more that collaborates as a cause of purely economic problems. Don't you think?
For now I say goodbye, hoping that through experience and study you can increase your financial intelligence and that those economic problems you might have will be solved, from all their causes.
