The ten newly hatched ones I posted about before are now laying eggs too, just like their mother—hehe! By the way, here’s my post about our adorable ducklings.
After 8 months, all ten of them have grown big and are still all there—I’m really grateful that none of them died. By the way, we have seven female ducks and three males. So, in total, we have eight female ducks, including their momma ducks!
This is the new addition to our flock of ducks, a mature drake that we bought for 700 pesos after the ducklings had grown up. But now, he's the only left, because we slaughtered our three males ducks to serve as food for my child's birthday celebration recently.
Last month, our four ducks all started laying eggs around the same time consistently, and exclusively in the very same nest. So, when one of the ducks decided to start brooding, the others simply switched to a different spot to lay their eggs, continuing to do so every single day. My spouse placed over 24 eggs under this brooding duck, but only two survived, the rest likely failed to develop because they got wet from the rain.
Sometimes their mother leaves them up here while she goes off on a date in the rice fields haha! The two of them just behave themselves here at the house, searching the ground together for something to eat.
They look happy family duck here! Haha
These are our newly hatched ducklings—eleven of them survived, and my husband has set another 24 eggs for incubation. I am so grateful that Eleven ducklings made it. My husband placed them in a box with a heat lamp so the mother could continue incubating the remaining eggs; however, by the next morning, she had left the nest and was searching for her ducklings.
So, my husband had the ducklings follow their mother, and now they roam outside.
But, this one went missing yesterday. My husband looked everywhere in our backyard but couldn't find it. This is the last photo I have if them, as I didn't notice where they went. My husband plans to look for them again tonight in the rice fields, they might be staying there while searching for food and they forgot to go home.
That's all for today, I'll keep updated here once our cutie ducklings are found, and I'll also share our other ducks that are currently laying eggs.
Thanks for reading and supporting my blogs—stay safe, everyone! 🫶🏻
