Moving your garden indoors:
It's that time of year, the cold is moving in. I love gardening in the summer time, I take at least one hour of every morning tending to my garden. But with the busy addictive crypto life, I found myself slipping into a none caring gardener. To me that's like a none caring parent.
This year, I decided to move part of my garden indoors, I selected peppers, and some herbs. Peppers are great for indoors growing, they yield 4 to 5 harvests per year if done correctly. Herbs also love the indoors, especially my wild oregano species, I have a few of those imported from Italy.
I planted my movable garden in large containers, it's heavy lifting and moving for one day, but the payout is well worth it. No I am not only talking about food. There is a great pleasure and calming effect these plants have, just looking at all the colors of peppers is amazingly soothing.
I plant from seeds of peppers I eat, usually selecting a mix of color and flavor. You only dry the seeds for a few days, then put them in the freezer for one day, defrost for a day and plant. You can skip the freezing part depending on your area. But I like to embed that genetic trait in the seeds, because my area gets really cold in the fall. Freezing had less success rate, but the ones that do succeed have amazing results.
Try an indoor garden this year, you won't be disappointed. The picture above is for one of my containers that sit right next to my desk. There is a few peppers already and it's flowering nicely, some should mature in December around Christmas time. The herbs are now seeding, which they do every fall, and more herbs spring up in a couple of months, I usually save some seeds for the outdoors gardening in the spring, but found better results buying the herbs plants from a local nursery that imports them.
