I know it's been a while but I've been super busy with moving into a new apartment, uni, new job, you name it. I do, however, have a little time to spare to share the trip
@kryptocek and I had to Budapest during easter!
We spent three days with his mom, and we went for three days which was the perfect amount of time to spend in Budapest, at least for us! We literally walked around the entire city and in the few days we ended up walking 60 km, so I must admit that I was quite exhausted when the alarm rang Saturday morning at 3.30 am to wake me up and kindly remind me that it was time to go home (and move into a new apartment).
Anyways, I was fortunate enough to borrow my sister’s Nikon DSLR camera so that I could take a lot of pictures that I can share with you here! And I can guarantee you, it was so worth it, because WOW Budapest is just beautiful!
On the first day we stopped by the world famous Parliament of Budapest. The picture you see here is taken from the boat cruise we went on at night on Duna. The cruise was roughly an hour long and sailed from the end where Margaret Island is located and sailed just past the Gellert Bath and back again. This gave us time to enjoy the view on both the Buda side and the Pest side while enjoying the delicious Mulled wine we got from the staff.
Apart from drinking Mulled wine we enjoyed a lot of delicious food on the trip – both traditional Hungarian food, yummy Indian food, and French croissants. Budapest had, to my surprise, a lot of amazing coffee. One of the best places we stumbled across was Warm Cup where the picture above is from. Not only was it good, it was also super cheap!
If you ever go to Hungary, do yourself a favour and buy a Kürtőskalács (or ten). They’re so good and you can literally get them everywhere. These ones are from the top of the Castle Hill and were like 5$ (US) but you can find them in numerous food carts where they are a bit smaller but way cheaper. I think the cheapest price I found was around 1$.
Budapest also has a lot of beautiful architecture to offer! This picture was taken on top of the St. Stephen’s Basilica which is the largest church in Budapest. There was around 300 steps from the bottom to the top and once you made it out from the dark (but beautiful) staircase the view was absolutely breathtaking, and there was a 360 degrees view over the entire city!

Aaaaand… The beautiful Basilica from the front! Isn’t it beautiful?! What you don’t see in this picture is the million people who were also taking a picture of this world-famous architecture. I guess it’s like that everywhere you go nowadays, and it’s not like I’m better myself, haha!
As you might know, Budapest is a city unified from the two sides: ‘Buda’ and ‘Pest’. On the Buda side you can find the Castle Hill where you can walk up or take this old and really cool cable car.
Once you reach the top of the Castle Hill you can walk to the Fisherman’s Bastion which you see behind me in the picture above – and look what’s in the background; Duna River and the Parliament!
