Well I'm not sure he can determine when he's going to die, but even if he lives 40 to 45 years extra, humans still wouldn't be able to make Mars habitable in 45 years time, I think it's more of something like 100 years time, but then I'm just speculating. It may come sooner than later and then he and other elites can be the first to make inter planetary living a reality and become the first landlords.
