The longest book I've ever read has been the bible and beyond that, I try to keep the length of the books I dive into...Under 300.
As much as I love reading, if books are longer than 300 pages I really lose focus.
So when I was presented with a 'challenge' to dive into an 850 page book and finish it in 3 months...Of course I took it up LOL
The DA With DA challenge was created by one of my favorite pastors David Asscherick. His challenge was to prayerfully go through all 850 plus pages and 87 chapters of Ellen G. White's classic The Desire of Ages.
I started the challenge 90 days ago and actually go through this marathon of a book this week!
The Desire of Ages is a historical and biblical journey through the life of Jesus. Detailing how His ministry began and the church He built.
So here's the thing...I'm pretty sure if this book had bigger fonts, it would have been 1000 pages plus LOL
But getting back to the content...Wow!
Even though it was a good 3 months of reading through The Desire of Ages, it was such a rewarding experience. Mrs. White details every struggle Jesus went through in amazing color and descriptions, you truly do feel like you were there with Him and the apostles.
This is just one of the dozens upon dozens of books that Ellen White has written and so say The Great Controversy is her greatest work. I would argue The Desire of Ages tops them all.
This is basically a bible study of the 4 gospels and a fantastic companion for anyone looking to dive into the bible deeper.
I'm so grateful that I took part in the DA With DA challenge and look forward to David's next reading plan :)
