On Thursday nights I get to hang out with some fellow trucking buddies of mine. I was on the road a few months ago and discovered a ministry that caters directly to the trucking industry and jumped into their small community.
What a blessing it's been!
I honestly think if anyone needed a ministry it is truckers.
Think about it, these men and women are alone pretty much every day for weeks on end. Away from friends and family and they are in their 'head' for the majority of those long days on the road.
Lots of talking to yourself, lots of thoughts, lots of lonely nights.
So when I found this ministry, I had to jump in and take part in it. And I've met some incredible people as we gather every Thursday night on Zoom and do some prayers and a bible study.
Tonight's topic was about having assurance that God will never leave you. And it's a battle for so many of us in this faith. But the bible is clear, it's not God who abandons us, it's us that abandon God.
A relationship with God is always a choice. He will never force Himself upon you!
While listening to the guys share their testimonies some Scripture came to mind, and I shared it with the attendees. I am going to share them here as well, and I pray it's a blessing to anyone looking for that assurance in God and His promises...
God never says, I will save you from trials and tribulations. Actually it's the complete opposite. He saves us THROUGH them. Let's look at two examples found in the book of Daniel.
The first one comes to us in Daniel chapter 3. And you may be familiar with the story. The three Hebrew boys would not bow down to the golden statue that King Nebuchadnezzar eracted.
So the king threw them into the fire and God stood right beside them. The boys were challenged, but never surrendered to the king. They trusted God and He saw them through the flames.
We also see in Daniel chapter 6, the famous story of Daniel in the Lion's den. Again, Daniel wasn't saved from going into the den. He was there, smack dab in the middle of it. But what did God do? He shut the mouth of the lions and saw Daniel through the trobulation.
This shows us that God never leaves us, even though it may feel like that at times. There is assurance in His promises, and comfort knowing that our Lord and Savior sits on the throne of the universe.
If He said it, it's a promise!
I rest on stories from Scripture like this because it shows me that His Word stands true. Think about the word's of Jesus when He states:
Tribulation is coming.
Let's make sure our faith is firm on the Rock!
