Plans change....Which sums up my day today perfectly! I had planned a new #bible review for my YouTube channel and then to re-post it here in chain, but life happens. I just didn't get around to it because of some commitments I had to attend to so....
Let's do another #kingdomproverbs post for the new week :)
This is he second last verse we are going over on the graphic and it's one of my favoites within the entire book of proverbs. Let's see what the bible reads....
On the graphic it reads that the Proverbs Man & Woman "listen more than they speak" and we see a bit more detail from the verse above.
Even a foolish person, when he shuts his mouth is looked at as wise. Because the man (or woman) that knows when to keep silent is viewed as someone of great understanding. Boy oh boy does this resonate with yours truly!
I'm sure if you have been following this series, you will notice a trend. The 'fool'. This was Solomon's way to really hit home his points about how important it was to seek wisdom. The opposite of that is a fool. But here we see the foolish person praised....
Why?
Because speaking from experience, our mouths can get us into BIG trouble.
It is after all the vicious member that no man can tame, and the power of words can truly be a blessing and a curse. Think about it....Go to John 1 and see how much power is in...The Word!
And usually when we are spitting out our lips, we are speaking from passion. And as we have learned, passion can get us into trouble. So the fool is counted wise when he or she knows when to....Hold their peace.
What a powerful lesson, and one of the biggest nuggets I ever learned from the book of Proverbs. It truly is powerful when we understand the power we can with our words. When to use them and when to...Keep silent.
This is something I really needed to learn earlier on in my Christian walk. And yeah, I'm still guilty of speaking when I shouldn't but thank the Lord, I'm getting better at taming the tongue.
I hope this verse and all the verses we have been going over during this series has been a huge blessing to you. This book is so important and here's a suggestion I would give you if this has stirred your spirit at all....Make it a habit to read one chapter in Proverbs, every day or the month.
Want to know why?
Not only can you get some heavenly gems to think about and pray on, but there are 31 chapters in this book. Read a chapter a day for a month and BAM, you have read an entire book of the bible in one calendar month :)
I've done this for years and it's truly been a huge blessing to me!
