I'm home!
I get to spend a few days at home with my family before my next trip on the road! And you'd think, they'd be excited to see me right? Well they were WAY too excited, because they are all in bed now sleeping lol
So of course, that gave me time to dive into a topic I've been thinking about all day today....
Last night, the Leo Threads community was listening in on a Twitter space about NFTs and Web 3. You know...Buzzword kind of topics!
And 
I noticed that the majority of the attendees all had blue check marks. A big chunk of them had the exact same number of followers as those they followed. And started talking about 'the new social media' of....Wait for it...
Twitter, Telegram, Discord and Twitch. I kid you not...
Remember these are 'enthusiasts and experts' in web 3 and NFTs apparently. But that's a whole other topic.
It got me thinking about my journey here on chain and while I was poking around the threadcast on LEO I looked at my profile for second...
I am almost at 4000 followers here on the blockchain!
So yeah, it's not the tens of thousands that many of these attendees had on Twitter. And yeah, no blue check mark beside my name but I wanted to highlight a few reasons why this matters to me personally. And it should matter to those us that claim #web3 as well.
First, I'm extremely proud of this follower count. A big reason is because I've built relationships with many of these people over my almost 6 years here on chain. My investment in time to me, is a no brainer because on Hive, its really easy to stick out from the noise. All you have to do here is show up, put in effort and don't jump ship at the first sign of a bear market.
Next, it represents a true #web3 experience on chain. I'm building for the future and if you listened to our last Crypto Maniacs podcast, this is what we spoke about when it came to the mindset needed here on the blockchain. You see, there's lots of buzzwords thrown around in this space. But rarely do you see people with a long term mindset that are building for the future.
I see 3977 amazing people that have a vision for that same future. So it's an honor to have you share in my journey. Imagine what these 3977 people represent when Hive and Leo become the true #web3 experience and the world catches on. That's why I'm building now.
To be honest, I'm much more interested in growing my follower count here on Hive than any other social media platform. I don't see a future with Facebook' but I do see it on this blockchain. And when it comes down to it, regardless of what people say about follower counts or heck, even reputation scores on Hive....These things matter to me.
I dedicated almost 6 years of my life to this place, not for rewards in 7 days...But for life changing technology that will truly make this world a better place.
