i am in love and all-out into - the season i am in. yes, there may be a couple of low points but these lows do not necessarily negate all the high points. and i think it's all about perspective. when you know that everything's gonna end any time, you learn to detach and be at peace with what is and not with what will be or what was, accepting how life changes every day and nothing is ever permanent on this temporary earth. -Jong
Another year has been added to my life - it's crazy how birthdays become different for us as we go through stages of life. Right?\
I could remember how, when I was a child, I used to be "hyper-ly" over-the-moon when it is almost my birthday. Aside from a few presents from my parents and older siblings, I look forward to the cake (as would normal children do, correct? haha). I grew up with not so much on our plate, so it was really (truly) special when there's cake on my birthday (which I do not get every birthday - it naturally depends, especially as my parents were raising eight kinds after all).
When I was in college, every birthday was celebrated with my college besties! When I had my debut it was spent with them - we had pizza and karaoke. It was simple, but my heart was filled with joy. Youth is definitely a great time to be alive, don't you think?
When I turned twenty and I started working, I felt like I was "old" without me having a choice but to work my butt off so that I can pay the bills at home. "Old". Crazy, right? Sometimes I tend to be overly dramatic. (I am rolling my eyes at me haha).
Now that I am in my mid-twenties, I do not get as excited as when I was a kid in expecting my birthdate. It's not that I hate to be a "year older" (if we want to live life we have got to accept the fact that the only way is to move forward, one year at a time, yes?). Honestly, it is just that there are days when there's this invisible force of "pressure" on a woman who's single and in her mid-twenties.
Anyway, there's that. I am full of gratitude to be here in this beautiful planet and celebrating another year of life. Here's to this crazy-ass-kicking-overwhelming-but-magical-and-full-of-love another year in life - cheers to life, eh? 🥂
I will leave you to this realization that I have:
This is not where I imagine myself to be when I was a clueless highschooler who daydreamed I'd be "somewhere" in my twenties. You know what I'm talking about, it's what society has instilled in us - get married, have a stable career, raise babies.
But now I know better - there are so many paths one can choose to take. And I have decided to take the road less traveled; well scratch that, I am going to carve my own [crazy] path anyway.
I am not where I expect myself to be fifteen years ago - I am in place much much and way way better. This (rather long) season of being single has taught me so many things about life and what matters most. It has taught me lots of things about myself - accepting who I am and who I'm not, loving myself wholly so that I can pour my cup on to others who need me.
I do not need a man to feel that I am loved because I know I am. I am certain. I am sure.
But of course it would be hypocritical if I say that there's nothing lacking in my life right now. So I am going to risk my heart out - out there. However contrary to the most popular opinion in the world that one is "incomplete" without a Significant Other - well I disagree. An incomplete person can not make another incomplete person whole - one can only hope to complement the other.
Finding joy in the midst of whatever life throws on you is possible when you have Him. And God is enough. Though the hates would say it's just a lie I tell myself, I don't have to deal with their BS because they can say whatever they want. That's their life - it's their choice on how they'd live it. And I have mine to live. I'd rather choose to magnify the things that are positive and that make me live my best life, I reckon. Yep HBD to me!
