Over the last 3 months, traffic to steemit.com has been trending in the wrong direction

Unfortunately for all of us, that could have some negative implications down the road.

But first, here are the stats:

(Source: https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/steemit.com)

Steemit.com has dropped almost 2k spots on the global website ranking list.

Falling from number 5,300 to 7,100 as of now.

The drop has really accelerated over the past 30 days or so.

Why is this happening?

While it is partly to do with the prolonged bear market, much of it likely has to do with the controversy surrounding the most recent HF.

When it was announced that it was going to go through, a large number of users powered down and left.

As the dust is starting to settle now it looks like we haven't brought back nearly as many as we lost when these changes were announced.

It is much to soon to judge the overall effect, but this is something we need to keep an eye on.

I won't give my opinion on the changes here, but just leave some stats.

Unfortunately, this ranking directly impacts how much ad revenue steemit, inc can generate each month, so this trend is troubling for them and their programmatic steem selling going forward.
