Making Wedding Souvenirs with My Husband

Wedding souvenirs are items that can be kept as a reminder or memory of the newlywed couple. It's most likely a small object that the couple had chosen.

I remember doing our own wedding souvenirs before just to cut some expenses plus I want to make it unique and different. I looked some clam shells on the handicraft stores in Cebu City, called Carbon. A lot of stalls there were filled with different kinds of handicraft materials from fiber balls, shells, feathers, baskets, straw hats, etc. Then I just ordered some wedded couple figurines to put on the middle of each clam, using the glue stick, surround it with feathers and lastly put some crochet chain on the edge of the clams. I was pleased with the outcome at the time. It's one of a kind, and it felt extra precious to me because I was the one who did it.

Then last month, a couple who happens to be my husband's relative decided to finally tie the knot. The reason for the delayed wedding ceremony was that they can't afford to have a big celebration since it requires a big amount of money. We on the other hand, offer to make their wedding souvenirs since they can only have a P200.00 (Two hundred pesos) budget for the materials. Good thing I have some ribbons and other craft materials that we can use.

Here are the materials that we had and still don't know by that time on what we really needed. So I just place it all on the table.

These are the things that they had bought:

• small glass
• glue sticks

While the following materials are from my stash.

• ribbons (red and white)
• mesh fabric
• Scissor
• gluegun
• small flower (red and white)
• shells and marble chips are only added after we decided on the final outlook
• small cards

So, after gathering all of the necessary materials, we decided to create our own unique designs.
and then choose the best option.

I feel like we're having a contest on who'se design is best and that makes me feel excited. I was grinning on the entire process while my husband's brows seems making a straight line already. He was very serious as if we're really on a contest. After a while, I'm already done and very glad of the finished product while he was still undecided as to where to put the card and the ribbon and after 30 minutes, he presented his artwork.

Which is more beautiful if you would choose from the two?

So to be fair, we asked the soon-to-be bride, which design she like. And guess who won? Of course I did, lol. My husband just accept her decision with a smile and still giving me an advice to put some white marble chips and a shell inside each glasses. That was a brilliant idea of course. So I follow him.

He was the one who put on the marble chips and shells on every glasses while I cut a square shape mesh fabric to wrap the glasses and tied with a ribbon. Then stick a flower on the ribbon and just insert the card on the mesh fabric.

The couple were very happy after we finished the 20 pieces wedding souvenirs.
And it was a nice experience doing it with my husband. We enjoyed it very much. After all I'm not the only winner here but both of us. Still, two heads are better than one.
