Hi Everyone,

I would like to think of this as my introduction to the community. I just started playing Axie Infinity around two months ago, in May of 2021. I saw a documentary about people in the Philippines making a living off of playing a game. Can we just take a second to realize how cool that is? At first, it sounds like a scam but it's true some people survive using money from playing a game! Note I'm an American so I did not expect to make a living from a game, the cost of living here is insane compared to the Philippines. Either way, I was curious and wanted to check it out.

Firstly I want to warn you that this is not a starter guide, do not do what I did! I began my journey as an absolute noobie. I watched one Youtube video as my "research" and then dove in to buy my team. No problem, right? I followed the basic instructions. Get a "tank" at the front. Get a "utility" for the middle. And finally, get something that can do some high damage moves at the back. I managed to pick up a plant for my tank, a reptile for utility, and a beast as the backline. The beast is even kind of cute.

Now the more experienced players looking at my line-up in the image above will be able to tell that I could've made some better choices. All three of my axies are mismatched, and have no complimenting moves. I lost repeated PVP matches, and I was only making one or two SLP for each win in PVE. Eventually, I was able to scrape together enough wins to complete the daily quest and get a nice boost of 50 SLP. Overall though it was still a painful start.

This might be where some people give up, and move on to something else. Then I did the research I probably should've done before spending $300 on a team. Then again, at the time of writing, I can't even find a single decent cheap axie for only $300. I got a bit better at PVP with my team and managed to level them up in PVE. Less than a month after first joining Axie, I was getting 150 SLP daily in less than two hours per day. I still have a day job so I can't spend a ton of time playing a game. My less-than-ideal team was able to pull their weight after all!

And that is where I will leave it for today. If there is anything to take away from this, I strongly encourage everyone to do more resources before making decisions like this. Choose your team carefully! If you are struggling or don't have a good team, just keep at it. You can still achieve a lot with your team! Thank you all if you are still reading here! Good luck out there in the world of Axie Infinity!
