Activist "Movements" Encourage Conformity Through Ridgid Ideology

It is interesting how much forced conformity and "towing the party line" exists in activism. For some reason or another, in every generation there seems to be a few thinkers who get put on a pedestal and have their ideas widely spread.

This is all well and great, but after this happens, a "movement" is formed, and in my opinion, this is when the magic is lost and everything goes down the drain. It is at this point where people stop thinking for themselves, and instead parrot the ideas of those popular thinkers so they can fit in with the crowd or gain attention from others who are more experienced.

This stagnates progress, especially when components within a movement vehemently oppose the expansion of their backing philosophy and instead push for conformity and puritanism. This is extremely prevalent in all corners of anarchist philosophy, especially those who advocate for a "thin" or limited approach to their activism, such as only focusing on economics and property rights and totally ignoring important social issues that fall outside of that scope.
