Hi Hivians!

I'm thrilled to reconnect with the #Hive community after a period of time when school demands forced me to put a halt to a portion of my social life. I am currently on a school vacation, but this time it appears to be a national holiday, lol.

This is because my nation, Nigeria, is about to make a major decision that will affect us for the next four (4) years; I am referring to the presidential election. Aside from the presidential election, which prompted the break, we also had senatorial and house of representatives elections today.

Due to this cause, the government ordered that all federal schools should close down so that all students could exercise their civic rights. So, this is what results in my break; one thing about the election in my country, citizens often go back to their roots, that is, their locality to exercise their voting power. My family was not left out in this process, so we traveled to the village and I got so excited to meet with my cousins, uncles, and aunties who haven’t met for long since after the Christmas holiday. The house was complete! The compound was filled and I felt good to be home (smile).

When we came to tour the village, we used one stone to kill two birds by voting and tilling the ground in preparation for planting season. While others were tilling, some of my relatives decided it was time to play; their actions reminded me of how carefree I was when I was their age lol.

We didn't spend too much time tilling and doing other farming activities because we were a large group; from there, I went to vote with my family members. The election was free, fair, and peaceful at the voting station from start to finish. Everyone in the village is seen as a brother or sister, so there was no need for thuggery because you were indirectly killing your sibling. This is one advantage we have when voting in rural areas.

Just to conclude my article, I want to say that my short break is something I would not forget in a hurry. In a way, I feel relieved from all the academic stress. So Hivians, let’s talk: how did you spend your weekend? I guess you had a nice time like mine.

Please #Hive can save this picture of mine for the future purpose (winks).
