One may wonder, what does this caption really mean? However, the above topic was a statement made by a world-renowned martial art expert, Jigoro Kano on his final statement to his students; what he actually said in full was:
“When you bury me, do not bury me in a black belt! Be sure to bury me in a white belt!”
The question now is, why white belt?
Let’s make this simple, those who perform martial arts will agree with me that the white belt is known to represent beginners who just joined or aren’t done with the first stage of martial art. Also, they will agree with me every beginner has a lot to learn, unlearn and relearn. They are easily teachable, humble to learn because they are BEGINNERS.
This was exactly what Jigoro meant; despite being an expert, he doesn’t to stay in a place that seems he has arrived. Rather, he was to be in a place of learning daily even at the point of his death.
Learning never ends, it is a continuous process till death. Anyone who stops learning, being teachable, humble to unlearn and relearn is liable to be stagnant. We know any water that is stagnant ends being stale and it is liken to anyone who stops learning.
Never be satisfied in that position you are; even as an expert, keep updating yourself.
